One of my regular customers had a big problem with their recently built house. The masonry work on the front side of the house started to develop cracked in the mortar. When windy, water was rushing in. So they needed to patch that up and complete a bay window drywall ceiling repair.
The Drywall Repair:
It was a little tricky to get the damaged sheetrock removed. My main concern was the extent of the water damage. But the homeowners were able to catch it fairly quickly. After cleaning up, I was able to confirm there was no damage to the wooden studs.
A few custom cuts later, I had the sheetrock installed and the first layer of joint compound applied. I also sealed the brick work.
Fixing Walls & Ceilings Takes Time.
Drywalling may seem like a simple job, but it takes a few trips to get it done well. This is especially true when dealing with a bay window drywall ceiling repair. Rushing the mudding will leave cracks that make finishing take longer. Sanding it smooth also takes some time. Patience is key.
The last step is painting and priming. I usually don’t paint, but it’s important to always make sure primer is used. When you skip this step, your walls will have some sheen where the finish work was done.
