Every piece of woodwork was spaced evenly and staggered for the effect. It was a tough creation, but definitely rewarding. The stairwell accent will surely catch the attention of houseguests. Green seems to be popular as all of the fall colors change.
I’ve done something similar to this in the past but every accent wall has unique qualities. Dimensions and design play a big role, but the focal point is what matters.
The electric fireplace was 8 inch (“) deep and the TV mount retracted the TV to around 7 7/8”. So, I framed the 3D TV wall 8 1/8″ out. With the 1/2″ drywall, the custom build out was 8 5/8″ deep.

Building on blocks is a little bit tougher than other leveling methods (in my opinion). You have to basically shimmy the stones until all sides are level. I’ve built a bunch of these so my son and I have a good process. If you’re doing this yourself, don’t forget..
